Capstan Mexico looks to the future with facility upgrades. During July 2020, our facility installed new Nitrogen tank gas systems to connect to our new Abbott Furnace.
Capstan and COVID-19
As you are aware, the world is working to address the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. In face of unusual and difficult circumstances, it is more important than ever that Capstan facilities remain in operation to supply the critical infrastructures around the world. As of March 23, 2020, Capstan remains open at all three locations.
Capstan Wins Grand Prize in the Automotive – Engine Category
Capstan accepted a Grand Prize Award in the Automotive—Engine Category. The 2019 powder metallurgy design excellence awards competition is a very prestigious competition for powder metal. The award was given for a compact brush-less D.C. actuator gear designed to optimize engine performance. The gear also helped reduce nitrogen oxide emissions for on-and off-road commercial diesel-engine vehicles.
Capstan Introduces Epson Robot Technology
Capstan introduces new Epson Robot Technology to the manufacturing lines. Manufacturing in the heart of Los Angeles, California can lead to high labor wages. We are at an age of technology that is rapidly becoming affordable. To combat the wage increases and to make our manufacturing lines streamlined, we have introduced new Epson 6-Axis C4L robots.
Capstan Travels to Mars
NASA and JPL project teams came to Capstan for a porous metal solution to be used on the Mars Curiosity Rover. The main objective was to keep debris from entering and to repressurize or vent the drill during the landing of the rover. Our team provided a stainless steel solution of twelve porous metal disk surrounding the cover plate to the MSL Drill.
